ISA Hardware’s VIP customers visit AMD’s CPU Fab in Germany

ISA Hardware held a “Dresden Tour” event in line with its VIP Club customer program. A group of the company’s best customers got a unique chance to visit the marvel of advanced engineering and technology - AMD manufacturing facilities (Fabs) in Dresden, Germany, on September 16-19th, 2008.

 

 

ISA Hardware’s customers who had achieved superior sales results in Q3 went on a tour of a true hi-tech wonder of the world and got a first-hand account of the cutting-edge technologies and processes used to manufacture award-winning AMD CPUs. Dresden Tour joined together 16 attendees from 8 countries.

 

At Fab 30 the participants visited the so-called ‘Clean Room’, Quality Control Department, and the Fab’s control center - Automated Precision Manufacturing (APM) room. Currently AMD is rebuilding Fab 30, replacing former 200mm facility with a newest 300mm manufacturing facility. AMD plans to finish reconstruction in 2009 and new Fab 38 will be in a line.

 

Fab 36, AMD’s first manufacturing facility for 300mm wafers, took place in late 2003. In late 2005, Fab 36 started its highly automated production of microprocessors. The new facility employs approximately 1,000 employees. Located in Dresden, a city at the forefront of semiconductor technology, Fab 36 represents a huge step forward in the evolution of AMD technology.

 

ISA Hardware’s VIP customers were deeply impressed by the behind-the-scenes look at AMD’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, their immense scale, as well as the ultimate technology and science embedded in the Fabs. They also hugely enjoyed the tour of the historical city of Dresden and its outskirts.
